A Tasty Orange Treat

Sorry, I don't have pictures, but I wanted to share a simple recipe with you.

Last night, I had a real hankering for something Orange Dreamish.  Do you get what I'm saying?  You know the tasty combination of orange and vanilla?  Well, I decided to throw something together.  I crossed my fingers in hope that it would hit the spot.

It did.  YUMMY!

Here's what I did.

1 cup crushed ice
1 cup orange juice
2 tsp of vanilla bean syrup
1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt

I blended this and poured into a glass to enjoy.  Although, I wouldn't blame you at all if you drank it straight from the pitcher.  :)

Some might be asking what in the world vanilla bean syrup is.

Vanilla bean syrup is a homemade syrup I make for my coffee.

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 vanilla bean cut lengthwise with beans scraped out (don't throw anything out)

Place all ingredients in a small sauce pan and bring to gentle boil.  Let it simmer for 10 minutes.  Cool, strain, and put in a jar.

Do you have a simple treat to make when you just get that craving?

  1. I'm trying this! When I was pregnant with my first all I wanted to eat were orange push ups. For some reason the closest store to carry them then was a half hour away. My sweet husband made that trip for me many times.

    1. It's so simple. I think you'll like it. If it doesn't have enough vanilla flavor, add some more.

  2. Actually that sounds really good! LOL Orange Julius! My favorite easy, quick craving treat is making Hershey's dark cocoa into nonfat Greek vanilla yogurt...and if I have them...a sprinkle of chocolate chips and/or chopped nuts.
