I am thinking of the nursery rhyme right about now and I don't think Mary would be too pleased with the progress.
Back in February, I planted seeds to get my seedlings started. I kept them indoors to insure Poland's cold, winter weather wouldn't kill them. They took off nicely, but my lettuce seedlings died TWICE! My green onions did as well. I eventually planted additional radishes and spinach in those planters. The results were slightly better, but I was skeptical. I found myself wishing away the cold so I could put everything outdoors. I was glad to see that my green beans and cucumbers were growing so well. It made me feel as though I could do something right. My tomato plants...they went the way of the lettuce and onions.
Well, the cold is officially away and the weather has turned warm. The planters have been outside for a few weeks now and I must say everything looks pitiful. I am not sure what the problem is. I do have things growing and I look forward to eating whatever does make it from our garden. I went out this morning to check on everything ( I do this quite often.) and found a sight I wasn't expecting to see. My green bean plant...the most pitiful of them all...actually has a bean growing on it. How is this possible?

So, this is how my garden grows. As you can see, it isn't doing so well. I am thinking it would be a lot better if I could put the plants in more sunlight. However, this is a rental and I don't think the landlord would be too pleased with a ruined lawn because I put planters and pots all over it.
I like how you are using containers for your garden! It looks really good!
ReplyDeleteKim, I remember your name. I read about your garden earlier today. Thanks. My garden isn't what I want, but I do hope it all grows something we can eat. :-)
